User profiles

Purpose

The User Profile functionality enables multiple users and groups to work with the software using customized settings and preferences.

If there is more than one User Profile configured, you must select a profile or create a new one before you can start using NeuroInfo.

User Profile is not a login or validation feature.

Background

Lab managers can use User Profile to create, change, or remove user profiles. Each user profile is unique, but profiles can have the same program settings. For example, administrators can configure profiles with specific docked windows, software lenses, and other preferred software settings.

Profiles contain the following user information:

  • NeuroInfo.ini file: Information the program needs to operate, including the settings and preferences you use.

  • NeuroInfo.len file: Software lens information and settings.

  • NeuroInfo.UI: Information on which toolbars you have on display, and which windows, such as the Serial Section Manager, are open and where they are placed.

  • Any configuration and data backup files.

  • The calibration file for registering images to an anatomic atlas (depending on whether the box for Use the global calibration file in Preferences: Registration is checked or unchecked).

If you are upgrading from an earlier release, you can use your existing NeuroInfo.ini and NeuroInfo.len files.
