Creating an image montage

Create the montage BEFORE tracing.

Procedure

  1. Click File>Open>Image in Grid Layout to load the images needed.
  2. Click Image>Tools>Montage.
  3. Click Automatically Align Images in XY or Automatically Align Images in XY and Z to begin the alignment.
    • Depending on the number of images and their complexity, automatic alignment can take some time.
    • The progress indicator displays until the end of the process .
  4. Use Show XZ Window and/or Show YZ Window to refine the alignment in Z.
  5. When the process is complete, examine the montage.
    • If you are using an image stack, use the Page Up and Page Down keys to move up and down the Z axis when checking alignment.
    • Use the arrow keys to align.

Manual Alignment

We suggest using automatic alignment as a first step. When the automatic alignment process is complete and the command is off, you can align manually to fine-tune the automatic alignment.

If you make a mistake, the Edit>Undo command (or CTRL-Z) works on many Image Montage actions.
