Virtual Tissue (slide scanning): Acquisition settings

In this step, you adjust the settings for the acquisition of the image tiles that will constitute the virtual slide.

Prerequisites:

Process:

  1. Click Acquisition>Acquire Virtual Tissue.
  2. The Virtual Tissue Acquire dialog box appears ; adjust the settings as needed (settings are described below in the next section).
    • When you are satisfied with the settings for acquisition, click OK.
  3. Save the image in the desired location as prompted; name the image and select the file type from the drop-down menu:

    • 2D: .jp2 (JPEG2000 or MBF JPEG2000) or .tif (TIFF)
    • 3D: .jpx (JPEG2000 or MBF JPEG2000)
    • About MBF JPEG2000

      ● Benefit: Retains additional information about the image unique to the system setup (pixel scaling, raw image data, application version, etc.). Useful for troubleshooting.

      ● Potential drawback: May not open in some third-party applications.

  4. Set up a focus map.
