Annotate images
Annotations are groups of objects (arrows, text, markers, contour shapes) that you can add to an image. Annotations are associated with the image and the collection it is available from. When one image is available in several collections, annotations for the image can be different in each collection.
Hyperlinks can be added to contour shapes.
Click the Eye icon in the toolbar overlaying the image.
In the Annotations panel, click the Eye icon near the annotation you want to hide.
- Open an image.
- Click the icon to display the Annotations panel.
- In the Annotations panel, click the New button. The Annotations Editor is displayed.
- In the Annotations Editor, enter the annotation's settings.
- The description is also used as the name of the annotation.
- Default visibility: If you select Hide, viewers need to click the "eye" icon to display the annotation.
- To make the entire annotation fit in the window when viewers open the image, select Best Fit View.
- To define the area and the zoom level used when the image is open:
- Select Custom View.
- Pan and zoom as desired.
- Click the Set Current as Custom button.
- Click an object button (Arrow|Text|Markers|Rectangle|Circle|Contour) to select an object type. The object settings are displayed in the Annotations Editor.
- To display the object only at the zoom level used to add the object, select Show: Around (Only) at placement zoom level.
- To display the object at any zoom level, select Show: Always.
- Add the object over the image. If you add it on the side of the image, it won't be visible to viewers.
- To draw an arrow: Drag from head to end.
- To add text: Click once to place the text box, then type the text. Only the Crusoe font can be bolded or italicized.
- To add a marker: Select a marker type in the Annotations Editor, then click in the image to place a marker.
- To draw a rectangle or circle: Drag around an area of interest.
- To draw a contour: Place multiple points by clicking.
- To close a contour: Click the point that placed first (represented by a small white square, with an arrow pointing to it).
- To re-size a circle or a rectangle, drag a small square on the line. Dragging the small square at the center of the circle will simultaneously move and re-size the circle.
- To move a circle or a rectangle, drag any point on the line, except for the small square(s).
- To move text, drag the text box.
- To copy text, click the text box to select it, press Ctrl-C to copy the text, then press Ctrl-V to paste it.
- Open the image containing annotations.
- Click the icon to display the Annotations panel.
- Click an annotation name to select it.
- Click the Edit button in the Annotations toolbar. The Annotations Editor is displayed.
- Click the object you want to edit in the image. The object settings are displayed in the Annotations Editor.
- To delete an object, press the Delete key.
- Modify the settings as needed.
- Click the Save button to save the changes.
- Open the image containing annotations.
- Click the icon to display the Annotations panel.
- Click an annotation name to select it.
- Click the icon on the right of the name.
NOTE: Creating/editing/deleting annotations requires an Administrator account, or a Viewer account with Maintainer/Full role (see About Biolucida users).
