Calibrating your system

A properly calibrated system is essential for successful and efficient software use. Follow our guidelines carefully to ensure proper system function.

Watch our videos on YouTube: Calibrating lenses with calibration grids (4:34), Parcentric/parfocal calibration (2:47), Checking calibration accuracy (1:27).

Equipment

Before you start...

  1. Turn on the microscope system and the computer.
  2. Start Stereo Investigator.
  3. Load the calibration grid slide onto the microscope.

Overview of the calibration process

  1. Add and tighten the objectives:
    • Tighten all the objectives by hand to make sure they have not come loose.
    • Add any new objectives to the microscope BEFORE calibrating the system.
  2. Verify that camera and stage are aligned.
  3. Calibrate lenses with calibration grids.
  4. Perform parcentric/parfocal calibration.
  5. Check the accuracy of the calibration.

Refer to the Troubleshooting section if necessary.
