The Linear Pixel Plot window displays a graph of the pixel luminance along a line segment, providing a graphical version of the information displayed in the Pixel Window. You can drag the window to a more convenient area and resize it to view the entire plot.
Brighter areas are represented by higher values (white has the highest value); darker areas are represented by lower values (black=0).
The selected image should now be visible in the tracing window and the line segment should appear over the image. If you don't see this line, the selected image may not be in the tracing window.
To copy the raw histogram data to the clipboard, hold down the Shift or Ctrl key and click in the linear pixel plot window. You can paste the data into Excel or another graphing program.
Line plots in background areas
In general, the graphical representations for background areas are overall horizontal jagged lines. The jagged appearance of the line is due to the noise component of the image. The greater the noise, the less the line appears to be horizontal, and the harder it is to do image segmentation (segmentation is the process of separating the things of interest, the foreground, from the rest of the image, the background).
