Purpose

You can use your mouse and the commands included in the View ribbon to change the 3D display.

Procedure

Rotating

Drag the mouse to rotate.

To use a specific structure as the rotation axis, use the pivot point.

  1. Click the icon.
  2. Click the desired branch to assign the pivot point to that branch.
  3. Drag the mouse to rotate around the new pivot point.

To spin a stack to a different orientation, click the 2D rotation icon then drag.

Zooming

Scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.

Panning/shifting

To shift the current orientation of the 3D display in X and Y, hold down Shift on the keyboard and drag the mouse.

To shift using one of the projection views, click on the desired projection and drag the mouse.

Returning to the original orientation of the original images or image stack

Click Reset orientation.

Showing/hiding line thickness

Click Thickness to show or hide the thickness of the lines used to trace (i.e., recorded thickness).

Some trees or vessels are not visible. What can I do?

It is likely that the branches you can't see have a very thin diameter. When you zoom out in 3D, the diameter might be too small to be visible.

To display the branches:

  1. Select the trees from the Traced Structures panel on the left.
  2. In the View ribbon, click Thickness. The tree will show as a centerline instead of the diameter of the lines when traced.
