Contact Analysis
Contact analysis provides insights into the number of contact points between trees and/or vessels. Contact distance is the user-specified micron distance between objects. When points on the surfaces of the objects fall within the contact distance, they are counted as a contact points.
Procedure
- Select objects to be analyzed in the All Structures panel by clicking their labels (Shift+click or Ctrl+click to select multiple objects).

Click spatial on the Analyze ribbon and choose COntact Analysis from the drop-down menu to open the Contact Analysis window. - Contact distance: Type in the text box, or use the arrows to specify the Maximum distance between objects.
- Click Display.
Analysis results
The Contact Analysis results window reports how many contact points between object A and object B, object A and object C, etc., fall within the specified contact distance. If adjacent points of an object fall within the contact distance, only the closest point to the other object is counted as a contact point.
