Tree interval (branched structure analysis)

Purpose

Tree interval analysis provides the total branch length and number of markers, spines, and synapses broken down by a specified distance interval (bin size) from a tree's origin.

Procedure

  1. Select tree(s).

  2. Select Branch Structure Analysis from the Structure drop-down menu on the Analyze ribbon.

  3. Click the Tree Intervals tab.

  4. Select a type (Axon | Dendrite | Apical Dendrite) and confirm/modify the bin size.

  5. Click OK.

Analysis results

Start distance / End distance: 0.00 marks the origin of the tree. Start and end point for the interval is shown.

Markers: Quantity of markers within the interval.

Spines: Quantity of spines within the interval.

Synapses: Quantity of synapses within the interval.

Total Distance: The sum of all branch lengths within the interval.
