Open image stack

View the list of file types compatible Neurolucida 360 and other MBF Bioscience software (PDF).

Purpose

Open an image or an image stack (a single file containing multiple images) or a stack of confocal images.

What are image stacks?

An image stack combines multiple images into a single image file or collection.

The images that make up a single stack can be stored in a single multi-image file or in individual files.

Image stacks may contain scaling information that Neurolucida 360 uses to determine the distance between image planes.

If your stacks don't have scaling information, you can manually enter it using the Image Scaling dialog box.

Loading an image stack that consists of a single file

  1. Go to File > Open and click Image Stack.
  2. In the Image Stack Open dialog box, select an image file, and click Open.

The Image Scaling dialog box may be displayed; if it is, enter scaling information and click OK to load the image stack

Loading an image stack that consists of multiple files

  1. Go to File > Open and click Image Stack.
  2. In the Image Stack Open dialog box, select files and click Open. The Image Opener window opens.

Use the settings and controls in the Image Opener dialog box to specify how you want Neurolucida 360 software to handle and display the images. Learn more here.

  3. When you have finished reviewing the settings and the order of the files, click the Load button in the Image Opener dialog box to open the files in Neurolucida 360 software.

If you load an image for which there is no matching lens, Neurolucida 360 prompts you to create a new lens to match the image scaling. For more information, see Creating a lens.
