Meet the Team: Robin Gottfried, Administrative Assistant/Technician
Position: Administrative Assistant/Technician
How long have you been working at MBF Bioscience? 10 years
What do you do? Multi-tasking is the name of the game for me here at MBF Bioscience. On any given day I could be creating dongles or CDs for our software, acquiring specific data from various databases, editing the audio from our latest webinar, testing monitors, ordering computers, calling accounts payable departments, or assembling new office chairs. There’s never a dull moment around here for me! But my main focus is handling incoming calls. Most people who call in are looking for support, be it technical or sales. I try to help them feel comfortable and welcome, and get them the answers they’re looking for as quickly and thoroughly as possible.
What do you like most about your job? My job is diversified enough to keep this “musician in real life” interested and challenged. I especially enjoy helping our customers with various issues, managing the databases, and performing automated spreadsheet operations.
How does your experience as a musician relate to your job at MBF Bioscience? In addition to giving me a tendency to tell bad jokes, being a musician has enabled me to view life as variations on a theme. Like counterpoint in music, life offers intersecting obligations in our everyday jobs and existences. My experience in a digital recording studio has certainly enhanced my latent “geek factor,” (as my wife puts it), which aids in my endeavors here at MBF Bioscience. I enjoy learning database and website-building techniques from my colleagues, as well as my own independent studies. This diversification has definitely made this die-hard musician not mind getting up early in the morning to go to work and put in a good day.
How do you spend your free time? I’m a musician and published songwriter, so I spend most of my free time in my recording studio writing and recording. I also play competitive volleyball, and I enjoy chess, and a good game of scrabble. Also, reading books is a necessity, as is chatting online with my children and grandchild as often as possible.
Tell us about your last vacation. This summer we spent a few days in the mountains of Vermont followed by a few days on the ocean. We sat on the beach and listened as the pebbles applauded each receding wave.
