High bit depth

Applicable to a file with a bit depth greater than 8.

Access the option from File>Preferences>General preferences>Imaging.

 

Always ask is NOT checked : The program applies the settings displayed under When Image Bit Depth is Unknown in the Imaging tab.

OR

Always ask is checked

  1. Specify the settings in the Unknown Bit Depth window. Remember that your choice for bit depth only affects the display of the image, not the underlying data.
  2. To save the bit depth, save your image file as an MBF jpx/jp2 file (the standard JPEG2000 format is limited to 8 bits).

    The Image Adjustment histogram displays the correct range.
