Image Stack Open
Use to open an image stack (a single file containing multiple images) or a stack of confocal images.
What are image stacks?
An image stack combines multiple images into a single image file or collection.
The images that make up a single stack can be stored in a single multi-image file or in individual files.
There are two formats for the multi-image file:
- The PIC format is a BioRad proprietary format.
- The TIF format is a non-proprietary format that also supports multiple images in a single file. Fluoview files are a type of TIF file.
Images stored in individual files can be loaded using the Image Stack Open command.
Some image stacks contain scaling information that Neurolucida uses to determine the distances between images.
If your stacks don't have scaling information, you can enter the distances to use manually via the Image Scaling dialog box.
I want to load an image stack that consists of multiple files.
- Click File>Image Stack Open. Neurolucida displays the Image Stack Open dialog box.
- Select files and click Open. Neurolucida displays the Order of Files for Stack dialog box.
If the files are not in the proper order, drag them in the list until the order is correct. - Click OK. Neurolucida displays the Image Scaling dialog box.
- Since single image files do not contain Z spacing information, you need to enter a Z value manually.
- Click OK. Neurolucida loads the image stack.
I want to load an image stack that consists of a single file.
- Click File>Image Stack Open. Neurolucida displays the Image Stack Open dialog box.
- Select an image file, and click Open.
- Click OK. Neurolucida displays the Image Scaling dialog box. Neurolucida requires scaling information if it is not included in the image file.
- Click OK. Neurolucida loads the image stack.
If you load an image for which there is no matching lens, Neurolucida prompts you to create a new lens to match the image scaling. For more information, see Creating a lens.
