Placing markers

Purpose

Use markers to quickly mark structures of interest in your live-camera feed or acquired images.

A variety of marker types (dot, circle, cross, plus sign, and triangle) are available in the Markers dropdown in the Trace ribbon.

Procedure

Placing markers

If you're placing markers in a live-camera view of the specimen on the microscope, enable Joy Track to maintain alignment between your markers and the specimen when you move the stage with the joystick.

  1. Click a symbol in the Markers dropdown menu to select the marker type. The marker type will populate the ribbon icon and be highlighted to indicate that Markers mode is active.

Note that contour tracing is disabled when Markers mode is active.

  2. Click in the tracing window to place the marker.

    • Continue clicking to place additional markers of the selected marker type.

    • To switch to a different marker, select its symbol in the Markers dropdown menu and click in the tracing window to place it.

  3. Exit Markers mode by clicking the highlighted marker type in the Trace ribbon.

Deleting markers

To delete the last marker placed, press Ctrl-Z on the keyboard.

To delete one or more markers, select the marker(s) and press Delete on the keyboard.

Editing markers

There are comprehensive marker-editing options in the main window; see Editing markers (2D).
