Letter from the President: Looking forward to seeing you at SfN

Suffice it to say, all of us at MBF Bioscience are really looking forward to the SfN in-person meeting in San Diego in November.

As the world slowly gets back to holding in-person meetings and gatherings, we’re noticing an important change. At recent events we’ve attended in Europe and the US, it seems all of us are putting even more emphasis, appreciation and importance on face-to-face interactions than we ever had before. Conversations seem unrushed, substantive, and meaningful. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think so — I think all of us have missed the kind of one-on-one conversations that lead to deeper connections, uncovered insights, and the kind of collaborations that tangibly move science forward.

So, whether you’re in the market for products or not, I invite you to please stop by and see us if you’re in San Diego. We’re eager to connect, hear what you’ve been learning and working on, and gain the kind of insight and perspective we only get from conversations with all of you!

Also: we’re eager to hear your reaction to the International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility (INCF), endorsing the MBF Bioscience neuromorphological file format as a standard.
We’re pleased to have received this endorsement from the INCF. It recognizes our ongoing efforts in supporting open and FAIR neuroscience, and our commitment to supporting neuroscience researchers. We’ve established rigorous standards and processes for the file format so that it can be confidently used by the entire research community.

What does this mean for researchers who use MBF products? It expands opportunities for data sharing between individual researchers, laboratories, and within larger collaborative research initiatives. Also, it will be easier for third-party software tools to be developed and maintained that extend the usefulness of the data generated by MBF products.

It’s part of our long-standing and renewed commitment to make working with us as convenient and helpful as it can be.
