Neuroscience 2011: Thank You for an Excellent Meeting
Whether it was new software for tracing neurons and counting spines, an iPad app for doing stereology, a tool for sharing microscope images, or an innovative new microdisplay component, our booth at Neuroscience 2011 was busy showing a multitude of technological advancements for scientific research.
“We had lots of good responses to everything we showed,” said MBF Bioscience President Jack Glaser, who along with our team of staff scientists and software developers welcomed hundreds of existing and potential customers to our booth for customized product demonstrations.
Four full computer microscopy systems were set up allowing visitors to try out our new products first hand. Some traced brightfield Golgi specimens with AutoNeuron®, while others quantified dendritic spines with AutoSpine™, or tracked C. elegans with WormLab™.
One of the highlights we unveiled at this year’s meeting was the OLED Lucivid™. The new component, which attaches to a microscope’s camera port, superimposes a computer’s display onto the microscope’s optical field of view so a Neurolucida®and Stereo Investigator®user can do their work as they look through the microscope eyepieces.
“The OLED Lucivid generated a lot of excitement,” Glaser said, “particularly among existing Lucivid users who are using the old CRT based version. The new one is brighter, more linear, and more importantly, now available. Some people were so happy they went looking for their colleagues who were also Lucivid users to bring them by to see it.”
We were also pleased to present a Zeiss LSM confocal microscope as well as a complete system with the Zeiss ApoTome®, a structured illumination device integrated with Neurolucida and Stereo Investigator, used for acquiring high-resolution optical sections. “It was nice to see real, multichannel images being acquired on the ApoTome system,” said MBF Bioscience Vice President Paul Angstman.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth at Neuroscience 2011. We look forward to seeing you at next year’s meeting in New Orleans! And if you weren’t able to make it to Washington DC this year, be sure to go to our website where you’ll find all the information about our latest products.
